About Us
Our History
Leveda was formed in late 1988 by a group of parents whose sons and daughters were moving from a state operated nursing home, Ru Rua, to live in the community. The parents wanted to have more say in the services provided. From its outset, Leveda aimed to be an organisation strong on the values of choice and inclusion.
Our Journey
Over the past 20 years Leveda has grown, and we now provide accommodation support to over 65 people in a range of community houses in the north and north east of Adelaide. We also assist over 55 people via community support packages and a respite service.
Compared to our beginning, we now work with a more diverse range of people; all having complex support needs.
Our Vision
People living with complex disability are active, valued members of the community.
Our Mission
We develop and provide high quality accommodation and community support ensuring each person has maximum control over her or his life.
We value and uphold:
- An environment of caring, kindness and fun.
- Each person’s ability to participate, learn and develop regardless of the degree of disability.
- The involvement of family and of people important to the client.
- A skilled and motivated workforce.
- Innovation, competency and commitment to assist with a range of complex needs, including health care and behavior support.
- The right of all people living with a disability to be supported in the community. We believe nursing homes and ‘institutions’, because of the size and practice, cannot fully meet the individual needs and aspirations of people living with disability.
