Volunteering

Having access to volunteers provides more opportunities for the clients we support. Volunteers provide additional resources that enable more clients to access the community and participate in more outings that are often not able to be achieved due to the cost of providing additional support staff. Volunteers can provide freely given relationships to the clients we support.

There are many areas in which individuals can contribute their services in a volunteering capacity within our organisation. The value of volunteering can have a real impact on the quality of the lives of the people we support. For the volunteer it can be an extremely rewarding experience. When making an enquiry a job description detailing the role of the Volunteer can be forwarded to you upon request. If you wish to discuss the opportunities of Volunteering further our Recreation Logistics Officer located at our office will be happy to talk to you about this in further detail.

I started volunteering my time at Leveda on Tuesday May 16, 2003 and I've now been volunteering for six years.

I found out about Leveda from the LIVE Project after I left my previous job in the public sector in mid-2002, I just needed somewhere to enjoy my time and utilise the skills I currently have. I've juggled my Leveda commitments with my current public sector job with Adelaide Metro and so far, I'm not that ruffled with my work plans! I also find working with Leveda an enjoyable experience.

I type minutes from meetings, collate employment packages,  enter data (on some occasions) and refill the printer/copier with paper to keep it all full and ready. I also correct and format documents i.e. make certain documents look right.

I enjoy doing all of the above but the typing of the minutes is the best task I was given because I love to type things on the computer.
